SUNRISE LAKE - FISHING AT IT’S FINEST

Sunrise Lake is one of the premiere Trout lakes in the White Mountains. The lake offers Rainbow, Brook and Apache Trout. On October 20, 1995 the State Record for the largest Brook Trout was set by a little boy fishing at Sunrise Lake. The boy was fishing from the shore and using a live worm as bait when to his surprise and delight he caught a 4lb 15.2 oz. Brook Trout! The State Record continues to be held by Sunrise Lake. Fly and bait fisherman alike all enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the angling challenge of the lake whether it be from shore, in a float tube, or a boat. Sunrise Lake is the only lake on the White Mountain Apache Reservation that allows gas powered motors on boats, 10hp or less. Fishing and boating permits are required and can be purchased at the Sunrise General Store. If you are in need of the latest fishing information, hot spots, or what they’re biting on, give the folks at the Sunrise Lodge a call at 855.735.7669

Sunrise Boat Dock is located on the lake just below the Sunrise Park Lodge.
